HeartsAlive - Sermon - Worship The King Of Glory
Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. (KJV)
The earth does not belong to mankind; it is the LORD'S.
The earth does not belong to human government; it is the LORD'S.
The earth does not belong to the powers of darkness; it is the LORD'S.
In Revelation 5, Jesus Christ is proclaimed as the "Worthy One" who takes the 7-sealed scroll which is the title deed to the earth and begins the process of reclamation.
In Revelation 10, Jesus Christ stands with one foot upon the earth and one foot upon the sea announcing HIS sovereign right to rule ...for the "Earth IS The LORD'S".
Beloved there is soon coming a day when the righteous judge of all the earth; the King of Glory shall settle this long war that has been waged against God.
And in this great Psalm several questions are posed. Inhabitants of the earth, who of you desire to share in THE GREAT DAY OF THE LORD?
Who of you desire to share in the dynamics of HIS power?
Psalm 24:3-6 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. (KJV)
The word "Selah" is a word placed at the end of a statement for emphasis. If we were interpreting this word in modern day vernacular we might say: "How about that!"
The "clean hands" speak of the outward life of the believer. The "pure heart" speaks of the inward life of the believer.
Having clean hands and a pure heart begins by accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and he cleanses us from all sin.
The Spirit of God within us then begins to work in our hearts to make us like Christ.
The truth of God coupled with the Spirit of God working in our lives transforms sinners into trophies of God's marvelous grace. The image of God is being stamped deeply upon our lives as we walk with the King.
Lucifer rebelled against God and he has set up his kingdom of darkness upon this earth to steal our affections away from the God who made us and to decieve us to entangle ourselves with the ways of the world which darkens our heart and dirty's our hands.
Psa 24:3-4 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
But let us now go on with our text.
Psa 24:7-10 7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. (KJV)
A question is posed: Who is this King of Glory? The question is posed not once but twice. Each time a different answer is given to the question.
The first answer given is: "The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle."
The 2nd time the question is answered: "The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory."
Why is the King of glory given two different designations? The King of Glory is:
"The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle."(vs.8) "The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory." (vs.10)
God in his wisdom choose the earth as the battle ground for which he would settle the "Mystery of Iniquity".
Jesus Christ, the King of Glory, the Prince of Peace, the Rose of Sharon, the Bright and Morning Star would invade the earth to do battle with the powers of darkness that have corrupted HIS earth.
But they nailed him to a cross and they mocked HIM. They said, "If thou be the Son of God, come down!"
But Jesus did not come to the earth to avoid the cross, he came to die. He came to pay the penalty for OUR sins!
The just dying for the unjust.
2 Cor 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. (KJV)
Oh beloved, the King of Glory is strong and mighty; HE is the LORD mighty in battle.
Fear and hatred could not affect him;
Sin and death could not hold him;
All of the diabolical devices of the devil could not stop him.
FOR "Up from the grave he arose, with a mighty triumph o'er his foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, And he lives forever with his saints to reign."
Oh beloved, the King of Glory is strong and mighty and HE went on to demonstrate that mighty power after HIS ressurection as HE led a small band of disciples to Mounty Olivet to give them some final words and instruction.
Acts 1:6-11 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
He is coming again…, Psalm 24 is a great prophecy of the Great King of Glory…, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
When HE ascended into the clouds in acts chapter 1, He came to the gates of heaven.
Psalm 24:7-8 7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
But then one day soon, the Father will say go get the bride and the dead in Christ shall rise first then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together to meet the Lord in the air and so shallwe ever be with the Lord.
Psalm 24:9-10 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
