Matthew 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased:

The Soul of God the Father (the mind, the will, and the emotions) of God the Father is “WELL PLEASED” with His Son.  Why is HE pleased?

Redemption would be established through this God-Man, Christ Jesus.
The Obedience of the Son in all circumstances Pleased the Father.
The Father was pleased that the Son would subject himself to so great sorrows to save the very crown of HIS creation. He was pleased with the end in view, and with all that was necessary in order that the end might be secured.  Sinners becoming one with God.

Daniel 12:2-3 2  And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.  3  And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Hebrews 10:16-23 16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17  And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18  Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. 19  Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20  By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21  And having an high priest over the house of God; 22  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.  23  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

James 4:4-8  4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5  Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?  6  But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.  7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  8  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Heb 10:10-14 10  By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.   11  And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:  12  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14  For by one offering he (Jesus Christ) hath perfected for ever them (you and me) that are sanctified. (set apart unto God to be the recipients of HIS manifold blessings)

God is well pleased with HIS Son.

1Timothy 1:11  According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,….

When Jesus said, “It is finished!”  What do you suppose was the reaction of the inhabitants of heaven?

Was there a great prolonged silence in heaven as the host of heaven contemplated the death of the Son of God…, the King of Glory.  I am confident at some point the worship of heaven exploded.  I long to be in that moment when the Thunder of Heaven, the worship of Heaven Gives Honor and Glory to the Lamb of God.  This  pleased the Father.  Redemption was complete.  The end of that Redemption would be realized in eternity.  At the celebration of the marriage supper of the lamb and the bride becoming one with the bride groom.

Jesus said in John 17:21-22  21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

2Co 11:2  For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Eph 5:30-32  30  For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.  31  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.  32  This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Revelation 21:9  And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew
thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

“At the translation of the church Christ is appearing as a bridegroom to take His bide unto Himself, so that the relationship that was pledged might be consummated and that the two might become one.”

“The church, which was God’s program for the present age, is now seen to have been translated, resurrected, presented to the Son by the Father, and has become the object through which the eternal glory of God is forever manifested.  The present age will thus witness the inception, development, and completion of God’s purpose in ‘taking out… a people for His name’ (Acts 15:14).  [J. Dwight Pentecost – Things To Come – pp. 226 & 228]
Why does God desire a people for HIS Name?

He also desired this for Israel.  But what happened to them?

Jeremiah 13:11  For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

Do we hear from God?  What has God said to us in the last few weeks or months?

If we are to be unto God for a people, for a name, and for a praise and for a glory, we must hear from HIM and obey HIM.

How have we obeyed God in the last few weeks or months?

To hear from God and to obey God is for our happiness, God is honored in us and by us as we trust in HIM. He is pleased with us, and glories in his relationship to us, while we conduct ourselves as his people.
